As unpretentious as a homemade biscuit, Alvey songs run the gamut from heartwrenching to hilarious. Alvey writes about subjects close to his heart, the hardscrabble, but tender lives of farmers and coalminers in such songs as Muddy Coal Mine and Farmer in My Soul.
